Infectious Diseases Health Outcomes Research Fellowship

The Fellowship Program in Infectious Diseases Health Outcomes Research is offered through Nova Southeastern University's Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. The fellow will be exposed to and be involved in, a variety of health outcomes analyses using epidemiologic health care assessment approaches including retrospective evaluations and pharmacoeconomic analysis of patient outcomes. Fellows will employ knowledge acquired throughout training to conduct research and ultimately, learn to function as an independent investigator. Research participation is the major emphasis of the fellow's activities, however, teaching experience both in the classroom and experiential, and practical clinical experience will be incorporated. As part of the fellowship training, the fellow will submit their research to national and international infectious diseases meetings and prepare manuscripts for submission to peer reviewed journals for publication.

Residencies

Community-Based Pharmacy Practice Brochure (PDF)

The Residency Program in Community-Based Pharmacy Practice is offered through NSU’s Silverman College of Pharmacy. The resident will be exposed to and be involved in, a variety of community pharmacy experiences. These experiences include pharmacy administration, regulatory, and clinical services. The resident will participate in disease management, medication therapy management and other clinical services within the NSU Clinic Pharmacy. The resident will also participate in the ICUBAcares Pharmacist Advocate Program Patient Care Center where he/she will be involved in developing formulary management, adherence, medication therapy management and prior authorization strategies as well as engaging patients and providing patient care services surrounding these strategies.


As part of the residency training, the resident will be given the opportunity in didactic and clerkship opportunities in the education of pharmacy students as well as conducting a clinical research project.

Pharmacy Residency Brochure (PDF)

PGY1 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives. Residents who successfully complete PGY1 residency programs will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership, and education, and be prepared to provide patient care, seek board certification in pharmacotherapy (i.e., BCPS), and pursue advanced education and training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies.

Psychiatry Pharmacy Residency Brochure (PDF)

The specialized residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice is offered through NSU's Barry & Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. Practice opportunities exist at South Florida State Hospital, Jackson Memorial Hospital, Baptist Hospital, and the West Palm Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center. It is a directed postgraduate program that centers on developing the competencies necessary to provide pharmaceutical care to psychiatric patients.

This residency and the criteria for evaluation are designed to parallel or meet the standards as set forth by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). As part of the residency training experience, the resident will be given the opportunity to participate in both the didactic and clerkship education of pharmacy students. Additionally, the resident will be expected to originate a plan, develop a protocol, and conduct a clinical research project in an area of interest with the intention of presenting or publishing the results of their study.

The mission of Walgreens Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is to develop confident, effective, and innovative community pharmacy practitioners. Graduates of this program will be prepared for clinical and leadership positions in the community and specialty pharmacy setting. The program is primarily based at the Walgreens Local Specialty Pharmacy in Miami, within the medical building associated with a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center. This unique setting serves HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis patients for their health care, education, and wellness needs. Pharmacists at this site work closely with an interdisciplinary healthcare team servicing roughly 1,000 patients a month to optimize clinical outcomes. In addition, the resident will receive training at other nearby Walgreens Local Specialty Pharmacies that offer clinical services to oncology, transplant, and fertility patients. Graduates of this program will gain insight to medication management, medication reconciliation, and educational and behavioral counseling. These skills will enable the resident to achieve their professional goals while providing compassionate care for members of the community and contribute to advancement of the pharmacy healthcare profession.

This residency is offered in partnership with NSU's Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy and will provide the resident the opportunity to develop academic skills by acting as a preceptor and educator and by conducting research. In addition, the resident will actively participate in education of Walgreens pharmacists, technicians, pharmacy students, and the community at large.

Meet the Fellows and Residents

Infectious Diseases Health Outcomes Research Fellowship

saeed aldosari

Dr. Saeed Aldosari earned two Doctor of Pharmacy degrees, the first degree was from Taif University in Saudi Arabia in 2015 and the second was from Nova Southeastern University in 2022. Then, he completed his PGY1 and PGY2-Infectious Diseases at Tufts Medicine Melrose Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, MA in 2025. Dr. Aldosari is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist (BCPS) and a board-certified Infectious Diseases Pharmacist (BCIDP). He is currently an Infectious Diseases Health Outcomes Research Fellow at Nova Southeastern University. His research interests include multidrug-resistant infections and antimicrobial stewardship.

My name is Pooja Patel, Pharm.D., I am a PGY-1 Community resident who graduated from LECOM in Bradenton, FL. My passion for pharmacy includes sports pharmacy and psychiatric care. I am eager to lead pharmacy into other areas of healthcare. Faisal Alnefaie, Pharm.D., is a pharmacy graduate from Saudi Arabia and a recent Pharm.D. graduate from Nova Southeastern University with a strong focus on ambulatory care and infectious diseases. A former teaching assistant at the University of Tabuk. Dr. Alnefaie has a passion for education and clinical practice. He is committed to advancing pharmacy through patient care, research, and leadership. In addition to his pharmacy career, he enjoys traveling and staying physically active by playing tennis and soccer."

Abdulaziz Salamatullah Pharm.D. is a passionate pharmacy graduate with a strong interest in psychiatry and clinical research. I’ve gained diverse experience through teaching, leadership, and tutoring roles. I’m committed to continuous growth in patient care. Outside of pharmacy, I am a certified scuba diver who loves exploring underwater worlds, and I’m always up for a good soccer match!

Fabián E. Laureano Claudio Pharm.D. is a PGY-1 pharmacy resident at NSU and Sistema de Salud Menonita. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2025 from the NSU Silverman College of Pharmacy, Puerto Rico Regional Campus, after completing his pharmacy pre-requisites at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, PR. During his training, he developed a strong interest in infectious diseases, internal medicine, and critical care. Motivated to enhance his clinical skills and prepare for a career that may include both patient care and academia. He was involved in professional organizations such as APhA, ASHP, Rho Chi, and NCPA, which helped him develop leadership and teamwork skills. Dr. Laureano Claudio is committed to evidence-based, patient-centered care and values interdisciplinary collaboration to improve outcomes in acute care settings. He plans to continue his career in hospital pharmacy while remaining open to exploring various opportunities within the field. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys spending time with loved ones, going to the beach, and following a wide range of sports.

Alexandra Prieto Estrada Pharm.D. is a recent graduate of the NSU Silverman College of Pharmacy, Puerto Rico Regional Campus, current PGY-1 pharmacy resident at NSU in collaboration with the Mennonite Healthcare System. Holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Chemistry from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and worked in quality assurance in the industrial manufacturing sector prior to beginning pharmacy school.During her academic journey, Dr. Prieto Estrada held leadership roles in various organizations, which allowed her to strengthen her leadership, teamwork, and resilience skills. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys reading, exercising, going to the movies, and spending time with her family. Dr. Prieto is passionate about empowering her patients and fostering meaningful, trusting relationships through her work as a pharmacist.

PGY-2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice

katelyn grillo

Katelyn Grillo Pharm.D. is a South Florida native who earned her bachelor’s degree in marine biology from Florida International University and her Pharm.D. from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in 2024. Following this, she completed a PGY-1 community pharmacy residency at NSU and is currently one of two PGY-2 psychiatric pharmacy residents at the university. Her residency practice site is located at South Florida State Hospital in Pembroke Pines. Katelyn has a keen interest in psychiatric pharmacy, particularly in substance abuse in the outpatient setting. Outside of her professional pursuits, she enjoys baking, watching movies, and caring for dog Lino and elderly cat, Hina.

Tracy L. Van Pharm.D. is a Southern California native who earned her undergraduate degree in Neuroscience from the University of California, Riverside, and her Pharm.D. from the Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences in Colorado in 2024. She completed her PGY-1 acute care pharmacy residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy. She is currently one of two PGY-2 psychiatric pharmacy residents at Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy. Her clinical interests include inpatient psychiatry, forensic psychiatry, addiction medicine, and neurocritical care. Dr. Van is also a proud and active member of Phi Delta Chi, where she has fostered her passion for leadership, service, and professional development in pharmacy. Outside of work, she enjoys all things food (eating, cooking, exploring) and staying active through tennis, running, beach days, and snowboarding.
