Georgina Silva-Suárez is an assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University's College of Pharmacy in the Sociobehavioral and Administrative Pharmacy Department. She received her PhD in Public Health from Florida International University in 2014. Since early in her career, she has been interested in HIV and HIV prevention efforts. She has worked with human sexuality, sexual education and HIV/AIDS prevention mainly in Puerto Rico. As part of her doctoral program, she conducted a qualitative study among a cohort of first generation perinatally HIV-infected youth in Puerto Rico. Findings have been submitted for publication. She is assigned to teach Ph.D. and Pharm.D. level courses on public health and adolescent health. Her areas of interests are: adherence to ART, HIV prevention, adolescent health, human sexuality and sex education. She was affiliated to the Comprehensive Center for the Study of HIV Disparities in Puerto Rico. Currently, she is part of the Puerto Rico Mentoring Institute for HIV and Mental Health Research funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and participates as co-investigator in a Transnational Study assessing adherence to HIV medication in the Caribbean funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
