Gerardo Ramos-Otero, Pharm.D. (’18) joined NSU College of Pharmacy as a Clinical Assistant
Professor in August 2020. Ramos-Otero completed his first year of post-graduate training
at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY; followed by a
second year of post-graduate training, specializing in Infectious Diseases at the
University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. His training prepared him to
jump right into his role as a faculty member at NSU, coordinating the P2 course Integrated
Pharmacy Applications IV and providing lectures on topics such as, intra-abdominal
infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and bone and joint infections.
Ramos-Otero practices pharmacy at Ashford Medical Center in San Juan PR. There he
is able to provide clinical instruction to fourth-year students within his specialty
of infectious disease. Ramos-Otero’s research is focused on Antimicrobial Stewardship,
Epidemiology, Microbiology, Antimicrobial Resistance, and Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
