Jose A. Rey, M.S., Pharm.D., BCPP, is a Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Nova Southeastern University (NSU), College of Pharmacy, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is currently the clinical psychopharmacologist for the South Florida State Hospital and the Director for the NSU-COP ASHP-Accredited PGY-2 Residency in Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice. Dr. Rey’s research interests include cosmetic neuropsychopharmacology, geropsychiatry, psychotropic polypharmacy, pain management with antidepressants and anticonvulsants, communication disorders, and clinical and pharmacoeconomic outcomes research with antipsychotics and antidepressants. He has presented his research at national and international meetings. Dr. Rey has published abstracts, articles, and reviews in peer-reviewed journals and has been an invited speaker at state, national, and international meetings. He is currently a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists and the American Psychological Association, and a past appointee to the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties Specialty Council for Psychiatric Pharmacy. Dr. Rey received his doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Florida in 1991, completed an ASHP-accredited specialty residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice at the Gainesville VAMC and Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, and is board-certified in psychiatric pharmacy practice.
