36th Annual Contemporary Pharmacy Issues Conference 2026

The Contemporary Pharmacy Issues Conference was fashioned with a common theme, a theme that would challenge the speakers to challenge the pharmacists, pharmacy consultants and pharmacy technicians to consider their unique information, new tools and new ideas offered at this conference to enhance participant skills and knowledge in growing their careers and jobs and meeting tomorrow’s patientcare expectations.

This program was designed for professionals who want to learn about the health issues that are impacting their lives, their family, friends and especially their patients’ lives. We can’t change things for the better unless we know the issues and can see the pathway to a resolve.

Saturday Morning

The program begins at 8:00am with the world’s greatest patient advocators, Joe and Terry Graedon. For decades the Graedons have given us “The People’s Perspective on Medicine” through their famous The People’s Pharmacy organization. This time they address the patient’s point of view when it comes to you providing the truth about drug side effects. Ask yourself “do you do a good job explaining drug side effects to your patients? Relatives? Neighbors? Friends?” Do you know how to find the information of how often each side effect occurs?  Attend and learn about the gap they see between patient warning and patient understanding and why the truth about side effects is so hard to grasp for both patient and provider.

20 + million Americans take metformin to manage diabetes. Many have been warned that stomach upset or diarrhea are possible side effects.  Clinical Diabetes, April 2021 investigators report that it can occur in up to 75% of cases. Chances are that providers did warn – but not inform the patients about details including “late-onset diarrhea.”

Another “do not miss this program warning” occurs at 9:00 am with “The Health Impact of 5G technology 2026 presentation by Dr. Carlozzi. This is a two-year update on probably the number one issue in your life that you do not know enough about, 24/365 exposure to 5G radiation. Is your phone recharging at night near you? Learn about what researchers say about the International Commission radiation guidelines.  Are there preventative EMF devices and do they work?

At 10:10 am Dr. Holger brings another update program on the hot topic of “strategies” to treat antimicrobial-resistant infections. This is essential knowledge for all healthcare providers.  Know your bugs and drugs!  Pharmacists should be involved in the overall process. There’s no option for not being informed. Attend, listen to the expert.

11:10am brings us another international superstar in Suzy Cohen.  As “America’s Pharmacist” (find out how she received that title) she takes on the non-traditional approach to a subject (pre-menopause) that is under-talked about. Enjoy her energy and fresh style to patient healthcare education as we travel to her home in Colorado for a visit.

We take time to eat our lunch at 12:10 pm and return at 1:00 pm, to brace ourselves for another amazing energy-filled presentation about our professional challenges/opportunities - the ever-changing changes that keep you up to date with our profession. As a working professional you must keep up with everything. (Recall who told you about finger printing first?). That’s why you can’t miss Dr. Seamon’s explosive style of educating us on the Zoom platform

Question. True or False: do people expect the pharmacist to be the most knowledgeable person about health that they know?

At 2:00pm Saturday afternoon comes one of the most requested about (details) programs over the past 2 years, “herbal medicine.” Who best to bring you that information based upon a lifetime of practice experience than Dr. Stuart S. Shipe. If you heard him talk before, you know that he will leave no weed or seed unturned. He will cover your requests from previous program evaluations about evidence-based resources, evaluating the safety and efficacy and identifying potential interactions and side effects of these herbs. This pharmacist non-traditional healthcare provider (Women’s Health Clinic) recently received his PADI Master Diver certification. Do any herbs grow underwater?

Sunday Morning

Get a good night’s rest Saturday because at 8am this subject and speaker make a combination that you will not want to miss! Doctor Mitch (rated top ten medical speaker in the country by his peers) brings another unique real life major issue to our audience. You will learn about “plastic particles,” where they come from, how they have embedded themselves into our lifestyles, into us, and can we measure their levels. The questions of how they impact our health and our children’s health will be addressed. Dr. Mitch will discuss how these particles can be reduced.

This unique presentation reviews one of the most impactful health issues of our lives, quality of life.

Next at 10:10 am is NSU faculty star Dr. Genevieve Hale who takes off from Dr. Mitch’s presentation (heart issues) and branches into an interconnected functioning of the heart, blood vessels, and metabolic processes described in her cardiometabolic syndrome presentation.

After Sunday lunch at 1:00, it may be appropriate that the speaker is a registered dietitian. Entrepreneur Staci Shacter, now of Bonify, Florida will examine food and immunity in the cancer patient. An often-asked question from almost every cancer patient or caregiver is “what foods are good and what foods are bad for me.” Staci, a highly skilled contributor at our programs over recent years, takes on a subject that very few will address. You might want to eat light (carbs) for lunch so that you can be on your toes as this brilliant young lady shares her passion with you in overdrive.

The award for “save the best for last” goes to Dr. Andrea Levin. Being the anchor speaker on a two-day program is difficult for anyone. However, Dr. Levin brings a positive reflection during challenging situations that encourages one to be interestingly engaged in her commitment to share pertinent and innovative updates in the thought-provoking world of ambulatory care.

The 36th Annual Contemporary Pharmacy Issues Conference was planned and designed for all pharmacy leaders, including consultants, practitioners, educators, and pharmacy technicians.
