Melissa is Faculty-Nominated winner of the "Student of the Month for September 2014" in recognition of:
- Organizing and leading a significant number of community events including fundraising for breast cancer and diabetes, and also local medication brown-bag events at senior living facilities
- Volunteering at Florida's Camp Boggy Creek for children with life-threatening illnesses
- Organizing Poison Prevention Educational Sessions at a local elementary school and work to promote HIV/AIDS awareness at a center for young pregnant women
- Recruiting students to experience opportunities for immunizing pharmacists and initiate a partnership with United Nation's Shot@Life Program to promote global access to childhood vaccinations and decrease vaccine-preventable deaths.
