Puerto Rico Travel Study

This summer, students will be led by Blanca I. Ortiz, Pharm.D., assistant dean, as they study for two weeks in Puerto Rico. Travel dates: July 9-22, 2017.

Students within the health professions have the opportunity to learn about the healthcare system of Puerto Rico and interact with local professionals about different aspects of their practices in the island.  Students will earn 3 elective credits after successful completion of the academic program, which includes the following topics, among others: tropical medicine, medicinal plants of Puerto Rico and non-traditional Puerto Rican medicine.

The course-work include reports, reading assignments, and reflective exercises which can be completed before, during, and after the trip.

Cost of the Trip: $3,800*

*Includes: cost of course, lodging, breakfast, cultural exploration, polo shirt, course related tours and some transportation.

Not included: airfare, personal travel costs, additional meals and tips.
