Officer Responsibilities
All Officers must be current members of both FSHP and ASHP.
Officers at the main campus (Davie): President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Coordinator, Historian, Webmaster, a Delegate for each class (including one for International), Poison Prevention Chair, Open Airways Chair
- The President shall preside over all chapter meetings, oversee all other officers, and organize events for the chapter including the Clinical Skills Competition, pharmacist guest speakers, health fairs, and tours of local pharmacies.
- The Vice President shall help the President coordinate events, assist with other officer roles when needed, and oversee the committees (not as the Chair).
- The Secretary shall make sign-in sheets for the meetings, including a general sign-in sheet and sign-up sheets as needed for upcoming events; reserve rooms for meetings (and events as needed); schedule broadcasts to West Palm Beach; promote meetings and events with fliers in the pharmacy classrooms and on the pharmacy bulletin board; and write minutes for the meetings.
- The Treasurer shall collect dues from paper FSHP applications, deposit money from said dues and from fundraisers, and submit check requests in adherence with the policies set forth by NSU for organization accounts.
- The Membership Coordinator shall create a current list of all FSHP members and all ASHP members, create an FSHP membership file in the proper format for all those that apply with a paper application, and send this file to the FSHP office along with a check for the dues once the membership drive is over.
- The Historian shall take pictures at all FSHP/ASHP chapter events and at special meetings. These pictures shall be e-mailed to the Webmaster regularly and shall be burned onto a CD for the next Historian at the end of the term.
- The Webmaster shall update our FSHP/ASHP chapter website regularly.
- The class delegates shall inform all students in their class about upcoming meetings and events.
- The Poison Prevention Chair shall schedule Poison Prevention presentations at local preschools for children ages four and/or five and for elementary schools for children in pre-k, kindergarten, and/or first grade. The Chair shall provide a review session to go over how the presentation is done for all students who will be doing presentations. The Chair shall report all completed presentations (date, location, and number of children) to the Miami Poison Information Center.
- The Open Airways Chair shall schedule training sessions with the American Lung Association for Open Airways for Schools. The Chair shall organize a review session to go over the presentation with any students who request it.
