Prior to attending the October 4th, 2008 program, all initial consultant participants will complete the pre-course work as directed when registering for the course. This three hour assignment on Florida and Federal consulting rules will provide participants with the vital baseline information needed to attend the course. Ten percent of the questions on the final examination will come from this pre-course component.
The twelve hour live course is designed to prepare the new practitioner academically and to offer real world experiences from experts in the art of becoming a professional pharmacy consultant. The primary focus of the course will be on professional and administrative responsibilities, skills, and policy and procedures development.
The coursework will be presented by working consultant pharmacists who practice at Florida sites; ALF, Surgical Center, Hospice, Behavioral Health, LTC, ICF-MR, Corrections and Acute Care Institutional settings. Faculty will utilize lecturers, panel discussions, audience response system and one-on-one talk centers to share knowledge and experiences. Successful candidates will pass a post test (70% or greater) given at the end of the program on Sunday, October 5th.
Post program: participants will be expected to complete the “Consultant Pharmacist Application,” perform the forty hours of assessment under an approved preceptor, and mail these documents to the Board of Pharmacy in order to be eligible to receive their consultant license. |
